David Cook Race For Hope Speech

I'm doing things a little differently as of late. Usually I go on the air, report senseless celebrity information....crack a joke and call it a day. I will admit that sometimes it is funny to laugh at the stupid things celebrities do. But lately, I have been feeling that the people that listen to me on the air deserve so much more. Sometimes we are so bombarded with the negative spins that media puts on everything that its very hard to see the good. It kind of makes you wonder if there is any good in the world at all. There is no doubt that bad things happen. Bad things happen to good people and the reverse. We should be very thankful that God gives us a chance to see the good in all things bad, if we choose to. I know its hard to understand...so Ill help you. Here is a great example.....

This weekend American Idol contestant David Cook gave a speech for The Race For Hope, which raises money for Brain Cancer Research. The Speech started off very light hearted as David told a few jokes and laughed at his inability to run long periods of time. He then went on to inform the crowd of 9,000 people that the day before he lost his 36 year old brother Adam to Brain Cancer the day before.... He chocked back his tears and continued to speak to the audience.

At this point I had tears in my eyes. I thought wow, he could have used this as an excuse to back out of this commitment to speak in front of all these people just hours after his brother loses his battle with cancer. He could have stayed home and gone through an array of emotions including anger, sadness, and morning. But he didn't. He woke up, completed his race, honored the life of his brother and said encouraged 9,000 people he didn't even know. There was one thing David said that showed me he understood what it meant to see the good in what some would perceive as bad. He told the audience " I lost one, but I gained 9,000."

David you gained so much more!!!
